We saw these Octoberfest German people.. Roger bet Elise she couldn't get a hug from them, so, she asked if she could get her picture taken with them and then said thanks a got a hug from both of them.. $10 for Elise.. it was hilarious!

Horizon Skate Night!

Horizon Elementary School had a Skate Night at Skate North.  There were tons of kids, most of them falling every few feet.. I am shocked there were no broken bones.  By the end of the night these adorable elementary kids were sweaty and stinky.. it smelled like a locker room in there by the end of the night.

A trip to the Science Center

We had a fun day at the Science Center with the girls. Jana Peterson and I took the crew down for the day and finished our day at Subway for lunch. This group is a hoot and am hoping they are lifelong friends like I am with my elementary girlfriends!

In the mini- IMAX theater, it was pitch black in there and there were lots of giggles and shadows moving.. this is what I caught with the flash.. they all screamed!

Fall is here..no doubt.

Today was a PERFECT fall day. The weather was chilly but sunny and the kids played outside ALL afternoon. They worked so hard to gather all of the leaves.  I have fond memories of massive leave piles in our backyard on 13th Avenue. Nothing beats a pile of leaves.. and the sound is even better!

Jester Park 2013

We thought it might be one of our last nice fall days so we headed out to Jester Park today. It was chilly in the wind but the sun was out so that helped. Girls had a blast, playing in the leaves, climbing trees and finding a few keepsakes!

Natalie Freundl joined us for the afternoon.

A Beautiful October Day...

Lauren's 2nd Grade class went on a field trip to Jester Park. It was a gorgeous day! They were catching water bugs, snails and everything in between.. this was a big yuck factor for me.. I tried to be brave but don't care for the slimy stuff.
(Top right photo: Maisie, Kennedy and Lauren)

This stations they were sweeping for bugs.. instead we picked up every bur possible and I spent the entire time picking burs off of the kids as they were complaining.

This station was a nature hike and they learned about "decomposers" and found all sorts of treasures.. centipedes, spiders, beetles, ants,crickets.. you name it.. at least they didn't find any snakes!
Lauren's buddy from soccer and school.. Lizzy (Bean) Alsteen.

This station they learned about insects, made a masterpiece and played some games.

The BIG game has finally come and gone!!

Another King Ladies Day/Night Out! It the annual Cy/Hawk Challenge Game Day.. this year in Ames so we all ventured on up for a FULL day of tailgating.  Myrna was there at 10:00 or so, I was there by about 12:30 and the game started at 5:00.. that's a long day of tailgating.. but so worth it.. had a blast.
Back Row: Me, Joyce, Myrna, Lea
Front Row: Mal and Haley

It was a little toasty in the afternoon but by late afternoon it was perfect.. just wish the game would have ended on a high note too.

Haley and her boyfriend Gaelen (not sure how to spell that one)!

Andy and Lea Harrison

My awesome Uncle Dick and Aunt Joyce Barta.. we weren't sure what colors Dick was going to wear.. thought it might be black and gold.. but he came through!

So this is it for photos.. because when I got to Ames I realized that my camera didn't have a memory card in it.. I was SOOOO mad.. so this captures the "early tailgate".. too bad no photos of my cousin and her friends "later" in the tailgate.. it was quite entertaining.  Such a fun atmosphere to be in Ames for the ISU/Iowa game.. even if I didn't have tickets.. and even if we didn't win.
