Me and my girls...
Happy Mother's Day to my favorite Mother-in-law!!
My letter from Elise!
Elise wrote me a wonderful letter and wrapped it up at school... this is what it said...
I got these beautiful roses from my dad.. so sweet!!
This is from Lauren
Miss Arnold's First Grade Class
I was able to go on Lauren's field trip to the apple orchard and pumpkin patch in Cambridge, IA. It was a chilly morning but sooo much fun.
The Tunnel
Sitting in the old school house.
Faith Fluerehelm (front) and Lizzie Alsteen (right).
Learning how bees pollinate the apple trees.
Learning how they put weights on the apple trees to open them up for the sun.
Lizzie Alsteen
These horses were so beautiful and HUGE. Our instructor told us that if we clap the horse will come out of the barn and sure enough, the kids clapped and out she came!
Piggies!! Reminds me of my aunt and uncle's farm up near Pomeroy, IA.
There were goats everywhere.... they had a very high bridge and they just run around.
Awwwww, baby goats.
Learning how they pick, sort and clean the apples for shipping... it smelled so good in here.
Group hugs!!
On the hay ride out to the pumpkin patch.
Miss Arnold with Katelynn and Caroline.
Picking gourds in the patch. We all were able to bring 2 home... there were some really pretty ones.
Lunch Time....
We didn't have a lot of play time but had a few minutes to jump on the giant pillow.
This was a challenge to get them all to stop bouncing and screaming long enough to snap a photo!!
The second graders at Horizon had a field trip to Jester Park.
There were 5 stations we traveled to. The first one was learning about bugs that are "decomposers". We searched the woods for bugs and then talked about them as we caught them.
Elise's good buddy Paige.
The next station we learned about what the colors mean on bugs and how they give us information.
Here the kiddos are hard at work designing their own bugs.
This station we went to the pond and everyone was given a net. From the shore line we caught snails, tadpoles, minnows and all kind of bugs.
Elise liked catching things but was having no part of getting the bugs out of the slime into the bucket.
This station we had butterfly nets and we looked for dragonflies, butterflies, crickets, grasshoppers and more.
Our neighbor Ryan Davis helping some of the kids.
